The beginnings of Jen Dzines can be traced back to when I would design my children's birthday invitations on an old computer and Power Point. I loved the creative aspect of it but the program lacked the tools I needed. Over the years I upgraded to Photoshop and illustrator. I would spend hours watching videos, reading articles to learn new techniques in order to get onto the screen what I had imagined in my head.

Our family continued to grow and with the birth of our 5th child I decided to stay home.  As the boys got older I found myself once again trying to find a way to get my ideas in physical form. I was expanding into party decorations for my kids and I wasn't able to produce the precise cuts I needed for my designs by hand. 

​

For Mother's Day I received my first Cricut machine. I started designing cutting files for party decorations and found a new avenue for my focus. I found I enjoyed designing cutting files and those designs were starting to gain interest by others. My family had been telling me for years to sell my designs. 

​

I never had the desire or time to make that a reality. Until I decided to take a leap of faith in April of 2015. I listed my first designs and convinced myself the small amount money was worth it. My first file was a 3D pop up flower. I was hooked. I am a full time mom and a part time shop owner.  The additional money helps us pay for lessons, vacations and provides us with breathing room a family of 7 rarely has.

I have gone from hoping for a single sale to ecstatic that I was at a pace to make $300 for the year.  My business has grown and so have my sales. I now spend my extra time reading business articles and now considering making the leap back into college to learn graphic design.
